Uranium. Sounds dangerous, right? Like something you'd need a hazmat suit and a government permit to touch. But surprise, you can legally buy certain forms of uranium, and no, you won’t end up on a watchlist just for owning a small, regulated sample.
Let’s break down what uranium actually is, the types that exist, and why the uranium we sell is 100 percent legal and surprisingly cool to own.
What Even Is Uranium?
Uranium is element 92 on the periodic table. It’s a naturally occurring radioactive metal that’s dense, heavy, and historically famous for powering nuclear plants and, yes, for its role in nuclear weapons. But not all uranium is created equal. Some forms are safe and legal for private ownership in small quantities.

What Types of Uranium Can You Own?
We sell two kinds:
Autunite (Uranium Ore)
Autunite is a naturally fluorescent, radioactive mineral and a primary source of uranium. It glows under UV light and is legal to own in small, regulated quantities in the United States. It is safe to handle with basic precautions, like washing your hands after handling
and avoiding dust inhalation. Its radiation is very low compared to industrial uranium compounds.

Depleted Uranium Metal
Depleted uranium (DU) is uranium that has had most of its fissile isotope, uranium-235, removed. What remains is mostly uranium-238, which is weakly radioactive and not suitable for use in nuclear weapons or reactors. DU is used in some industrial and military applications, such as armor-piercing rounds, but small samples are legal to own and are popular among collectors.
Not All Uranium Is Created Equal
Uranium has several isotopes. These are atoms with the same number of protons but different numbers of neutrons. Here’s a quick cheat sheet:
-
Uranium-238 (U-238): The most common isotope. Weakly radioactive, not fissile, and legal to own in small amounts
-
Uranium-235 (U-235): Rare and fissile. Can sustain nuclear reactions and is strictly regulated due to its potential use in reactors and weapons
-
Uranium-234 (U-234): Very rare and more radioactive. Also regulated
The uranium that is associated with weapons and strict international controls is U-235. We do not sell that.

If you are wondering, “Can anyone just buy uranium?” the answer is yes, but only the safe, low-activity kind, and only in small, regulated quantities.
Why Would Anyone Want This?
Because you are not basic.
Whether you are a science teacher, collector, prepper, chemistry nerd, or just someone who wants to own a radioactive conversation piece, uranium ore or depleted uranium is the ultimate desk flex. It is a real piece of atomic history and looks incredible under UV light.
TL;DR
-
We sell autunite ore and depleted uranium metal
-
Both are legal, low-activity, and safe when handled responsibly
-
This is display-grade uranium, not weapons-grade
-
You are not starting a nuclear program. You are starting a conversation
