On June 6, 1944, over 156,000 Allied troops stormed the beaches of Normandy during the D-Day invasion. This piece of metal, salvaged from a Landing Craft, Vehicle, Personnel (LCVP), or Higgins boat, served as a crucial part of the amphibious assault. The landing craft, under constant enemy fire and rough conditions, carried soldiers into the heart of the battle, with many troops disembarking under heavy artillery and small arms fire. Despite the fierce opposition, the Allied forces secured key beachheads, marking the beginning of the liberation of Western Europe.
