Aerogel Disc Touch Display
products.product.pickup_availability.unavailable
Aerogel is one of the most remarkable materials ever developed. Often referred to as “frozen smoke” for its faint blue, cloud-like appearance, this ultra-light solid is composed almost entirely of air. Despite its delicate look, it is a rigid, solid structure with extraordinary physical properties.
Formed by replacing the liquid within a gel with gas, aerogel develops an open, highly porous network. This unique structure gives it some of the lowest thermal conductivity of any known solid, making it one of the most effective insulating materials ever created. Its ability to trap microscopic particles has led to its use in advanced aerospace applications, including capturing interstellar dust and insulating components in extreme environments.
Silica aerogel is composed of approximately 96% air. It is widely valued for educational use, material science exploration, and display.
Note:
Aerogel is very brittle and is prone to break. Please handle very delicately. Even slight pressure can be enough to break the disc.
Aerogel Disc
- Density: ~0.095 g/cm³ (~96% air by volume)
- Dimensions: ~26 mm x 7 mm
- Surface Chemistry: Hydrophilic
Safety Information:
Silica aerogels are non-toxic, but their extreme dryness can cause temporary irritation to skin, eyes, or mucous membranes. Always wear gloves, goggles, and respiratory protection when handling or processing raw aerogel materials.
Refer to the Safety Data Sheet (PDF) for full details.
Product information
Wash with mild soap or detergent and lukewarm water. Use a clean, soft cloth, or sponge. Rinse and blot dry with a damp cloth or chamois.
*Never use abrasive cleaners, household cleaners, window-cleaning fluids, scouring compounds, gritty cloths, or strong solvents such as alcohol, acetone, carbon tetrachloride, etc.*
To maintain the brilliant luster of acrylic, wax and occasionally with a quality grade of automobile paste wax (NOT A CLEANER WAX COMBINATION.) Apply a thin coat with a clean, cotton flannel cloth. Then wipe with a clean damp cloth. NEVER USE HOUSEHOLD SPRAY WAXES.
