What It Is:
Aerogels are formed by replacing the liquid in a gel with gas, creating an open, highly porous structure. This unique composition gives them the lowest thermal conductivity of any solid, making them ideal for extreme insulation applications — from Mars rovers to space suit layers. Their extraordinary porosity also allows them to trap microscopic particles, which is why NASA used aerogels to capture interstellar dust.

Silica aerogels are non-toxic, but their extreme dryness can cause temporary irritation to skin, eyes, or mucous membranes. Always wear gloves, goggles, and respiratory protection when handling or processing raw aerogel materials.

Product information
Wash with mild soap or detergent and lukewarm water. Use a clean, soft cloth, or sponge. Rinse and blot dry with a damp cloth or chamois.
*Never use abrasive cleaners, household cleaners, window-cleaning fluids, scouring compounds, gritty cloths, or strong solvents such as alcohol, acetone, carbon tetrachloride, etc.*
To maintain the brilliant luster of acrylic, wax and occasionally with a quality grade of automobile paste wax (NOT A CLEANER WAX COMBINATION.) Apply a thin coat with a clean, cotton flannel cloth. Then wipe with a clean damp cloth. NEVER USE HOUSEHOLD SPRAY WAXES.
